A new competitive winter swimming club is now forming in the Twin Valley Area.
The Twin Valley Aquatic Club (TVAC) will begin workouts on November 30th for swimmers in grades 7 through 12. It will conduct practices at the pool located at St. Mary of Providence Center in Elverson, PA. The club’s aim is to create a competitive age-group team, that will help swimming athletes improve their stroke and technique.
The Twin Valley Area has enjoyed widespread participation in summer swimming programs but has lacked a local winter presence in the sport. Currently, Twin Valley High School does not sponsor a school team, despite the fact that many other Berks County schools boast some of the best swim programs and athletes in the state. TVAC hopes to compete in USA Swimming-sanctioned events with its age-group swimmers. It also plans to create opportunities for Twin Valley High School athletes who would like to participate as individuals in PIAA-sanctioned swim meets.
A major goal of the club will be to prepare swimmers for competition at the high-school level, providing them with opportunities to represent Twin Valley as individual athletes at PIAA-sanctioned events, even though there currently is no officially school-sponsored team in the district. PIAA affords an opportunity for swimmers to compete individually in their sport, even if their school district does not have a team. It will be a goal of TVAC to assist swimmers in taking advantage of that opportunity.
